If you answered “YES” to any of the above, ASSISTEENS OF DOWNEY may be just right for you.
The ASSISTEENS is a philanthropic organization that offers high school students the chance to develop leadership skills and build character while getting involved in the community by helping others.
Some of the ASSISTEENS’ volunteer activities include:
- Rose Parade Float Decorating for the City of Downey
- Christmas Distribution
- Operation School Bell
- Rancho Los Amigos Hospital
- Glamor Gowns
- Story-Time Festival at the Stonewood Mall
- Second Tyme Around Thrift Shop
In addition, to reward its members for their hard work throughout the year, the Assistance League of Downey hosts many fun events such as the Christmas Party, the Spring Tea, and a Debutante Ball .
Applications for the upcoming 2016/2017 school year are available in Mrs. Israel’s office. Upon being accepted into the program, students will be presented at the Assistance League’s Spring Tea in the spring of 2016.
An informational meeting will be held at the Assistance League Chapter House on Wednesday, February 17th at 7:00pm. If you would like more information, please plan to attend the meeting or speak with Mrs. Israel.
